Southern Studies MA Students to Present Projects on May 1 On Tuesday, May 1 at 7pm, the Center will host Documentary Thesis Presentations for Southern Studies M.A. students Rachel Childs, Rebecca Lauck Cleary, and Victoria De Leone. The event will be at the Burns-Belfry Museum and Multicultural Center, 710 Jackson Avenue East in Oxford.  

Work for the Southern Documentary Project

The Southern Documentary Project is hiring a full-time Producer/Director. The Producer/Director will be responsible for producing a wide variety of documentary projects that tell stories of the underrepresented South.

Alumni Story: Documenting the South

These Southern Studies alums are all documentarians. Whether they are producing a podcast about a beloved home region, filming lectures on the history of fishing, making films for social change, or producing content for StoryCorps, they all help explore the varied nature of the South with their investigations.

Sounds of the South Now on Soundcloud

Starting in the fall of 2010, the Southern Documentary Project, an institute of the Center for the Study of Southern Culture, began producing Sounds of the South, a radio program based on music entries from the Music volume of The New Encyclopedia of Southern Culture.
