study-the-southThe Center’s journal Study the South, launched in July 2014, has just issued two new calls for papers, one exploring the life and work of writer Margaret Walker, and another blues in the American South.  Each paper will coincide with a Center outreach event in the spring of 2015.

Call for Papers: Margaret Walker

See the CFP here. The author selected for his or her paper on Margaret Walker will be invited to discuss or present a portion of his or her work at the 2015 Oxford Conference for the Book, which will be dedicated to Walker in recognition of her contributions to American letters. The OCB will be held March 25 – 27, 2015.

Call for Papers: Blues in the American South

See the CFP here. The author of the selected paper on the blues will be invited to discuss or present a portion of his or her work at the 2015 Blues Today! Symposium on the campus of the University of Mississippi. The symposium will concentrate on North Mississippi Hill Country blues and will be held April 8 – 10, 2015.
