Three Center faculty celebrate the publication of their books. Ted Ownby’s “Hurtin Words: Debating Family Problems in the Twentieth-Century South,” Jessica Wilkerson’s “To Live Here You Have to Fight: How Women Led Appalachian Movements for Social Justice” and Katie McKee’s “Reading Reconstruction: Sherwood Bonner and the Literature of the Post-Civil War South,”  reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the Center and the common spirit of working to understand better the common subject of the South.
