The Southern Foodways Alliance’s Grad Student Symposium keynote lecture will be by Dr. Krishnendu Ray on Monday, September 19 at 6pm in Barnard Observatory. Ray is a food studies scholar and professor at NYU and is the author of The Migrant’s Table: Meals and Memories in Bengali-American Households (Temple University, 2004). He co-edited (with Tulasi Srinivas) Curried Cultures: Globalization, Food and South Asia (University of California Press, 2012). His most recent monograph is The Ethnic Restaurateur (Bloomsbury 2016) and this is the basis of of his talk. The talk will last 30 minutes with a 15-20 minute Q&A.
