Surviving and Thriving: Covid-19 in the Mississippi Delta is a mini docuseries about how the communities in the Mississippi Delta are handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of these communities include Tallahatchie County, Sunflower County, and LeFlore County.

In this piece, Sumner, Mississippi resident Willie Williams discusses community response and how accessibility to information has been difficult because of Wi-Fi and broadband issues due to living the rural living conditions. Williams also discusses the health issues faced in the Delta on a day-to-day basis now exacerbated due to the pandemic.

Lastly, Williams urges people in their communities to love and take better care of each other.

Christina Huff is a second-year Master of Arts student in Southern Studies at the University of Mississippi. Her work and interests revolve around the LBGTQ+ community in the South, documenting queer stories (specifically drag and gender performance in the South) through a variety of mediums such as video, photographs, and oral histories. As a graduate assistant, she works at the Emmett Till Interpretive Center working on videos to tell help stories in and about the Mississippi Delta.
