Andrea Morales is a documentary photographer and journalist born in Lima, Peru and rooted in Miami, Florida. While earning a B.S. in journalism at the University of Florida and an M.A. in visual communication at Ohio University, she worked as a photojournalist at newsrooms like the New York Times, The Concord (New Hampshire) Monitor, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and the Lima News. Adding glimpses of daily life to the record is central to how she makes work. Currently she is working on a body of photographic and visual work about Memphis, Tennessee in the more than 50 years since Dr. Martin Luther King’s assassination. She is a producer at the Southern Documentary Project at the University of Mississippi, an institute of the Center for the Study of Southern Culture. She completed her M.F.A. in Southern Studies in May 2021 with her thesis “Roll Down Like Water.”
