Alan came to Oxford in 2017 to serve as the Audio-Visual Curator in the University’s Archives and Special Collections Department. He has a bachelor’s degree in Music from Goucher College, and a graduate degree in Library Science from the University of Maryland. Prior to entering library school, Alan was a full-time jazz musician for 12 years, based in Baltimore. Working regularly in New York as well as internationally, Alan performed at The Blue Note, Knitting Factory, and held a monthly spot at the famed 55 Bar. His research interests include music communities, improvisation, recreation, and copyright. Alan is currently pursuing his M.A. in Southern Studies.
