Big Clown (short film)

Big Clown is a short documentary film about a punk band that resides in Mississippi and Memphis, TN. With the majority of the band members originally from Mississippi (and one from Jonesboro, Arkansas, or the Mississippi Delta), they illustrate the importance of creating weird art in a conservative South that often strives to stifle creativity. They explain that there is not a market for punk music in Mississippi, and that it is crucial now more than ever to continue making music for the people who enjoy bizarre art. This film not only shows the inner workings of a punk band, but it also shows the interpersonal relationships that they have with each other that makes Big Clown special.

The Creamery (photography)

The Creamery is a small community-based project about an ice cream shop on the square. In this project, I photograph what it is like to work in the food industry on the square, but behind the scenes. While this project illustrates labor, it also illustrates an interesting dynamic of people who work together to keep a sweets shop running smoothly. The project’s main focus is on Denver Bridwell, the man who comes up with and creates all of the ice cream, but it also touches on the lives of the other employees who are not in direct contact with the ice cream making process.
