On Monday, June 19 at noon there will be a brown bag panel discussion in the Faulkner Room of the J.D. Williams Library about the recently published Mississippi Encyclopedia. Ted Ownby and Charles Reagan Wilson, both editors of the volume, will speak along with library faculty members Andrea Driver, Ellie Campbell, Royce Kurtz, Leigh McWhite, Greg Johnson, and co-editor Jimmy Thomas.

In addition, on June 21 at 5 p.m. Special Collections will host the official opening reception for the current bicentennial exhibition, “Mississippi: 200 Years of Statehood.” The program will feature a brief video statement from former Governor William Winter and a keynote address by UM alumnus, author and editor W. Ralph Eubanks entitled, “Mississippi History and its Interpretation.” There will be refreshments and a chance to spend some time viewing the exhibit before and after the program.

Both events are free and open to the public and located in Special Collections on the third floor of the J.D. Williams Library.
