This is an event for Southern Studies faculty, staff, students, and invited scholars.
From February 27th to March 2nd, Southern Studies scholars from across the United States and around the globe will gather at the Center for the Study of Southern Culture to discuss the current state of the field. Organized by Jodi Skipper (Anthropology and Southern Studies) and Michele Coffey (History, University of Memphis), the “Transforming New South Identities” Symposium will enable scholars and activists from a wide range of disciplines to engage each others’ works as well as consider their own relationships to the region. Following the workshops and roundtables at the Symposium, participants will be invited to revise their pre-circulated papers for an edited collection.
This conference is supported by the Future of the South Endowment.
